Celebrity couple Julian Cheung (张智霖) and Anita Yuen (袁咏仪) are known to be one of the sweetest couples ever. It’s no secret that they are absolute sweethearts when it comes to each other. However, Julian’s recent display of love might just take the cake!
Julian is once again back on variety show “Call Me By Fire (披荆斩棘的哥哥)”. His performances have, as always, been fairly stunning. However, this time, he decided to dedicate his entire performance to Anita with the help of his teammates. In light of their 21st marriage anniversary, Julian held a wedding ceremony for her!
The performance began with the group appearing on stage in a white tuxedo with a black bowtie. They took the crowd by storm as each member demonstrated powerful vocals with the song “无与伦比的美丽 (Unparalleled Beauty)”. However, midway through their performance, the other three members stepped back to let Julian take the stage.
“I once said that I hoped to take a wedding photo with my wife when I was 60 years old,” he shared with the audience. “But I thought, why do we have to wait?” His words stunned the other watching participants, who couldn’t believe what they were about to witness.
“Today,” Julian continued with a bashful smile. “I want to give her a wedding 10 years early.” With an excited smile, Julian looked to the crowd and declared, “Anita Yuen! You are the unparalleled beauty in my heart!” As the crowd went wild, the stage illuminated Anita who was waiting in a wedding dress at the end. The actress was clearly moved by her husband’s words as she reached up to wipe her face before smiling at Julien.
The crowd continued cheering as Julian crossed the stage to meet her. Anita looked absolutely radiant as she walked towards her husband, still trying to hold back her tears. But it was for naught as Julian ran the rest of the way to meet her at the ‘altar’.
When Julian was standing before her, he attempted to sing his part of the song to her as his teammates hummed in the background. But in the end, the words wouldn’t come and Julian could only smile at his wife as they took in each other’s presence.
As the final part of the ceremony, Julian gently lifted Anita’s veil before pulling out the paper ring he had prepared for her. The ring was notably adorned with a folded butterfly. Their hands shook as he put the ring on her. And as the performance drew to an end, Anita cried as her husband wordlessly declared his love to her once more.
The unexpected ceremony moved everyone to tears. It was especially touching since Julian and Anita never got the chance to hold a wedding ceremony. The couple also never took any wedding photos. As such, Julian had always felt that his wife deserved better and wanted to do right by her.
