It was a very productive weekend, to say the least, with plenty of events taking place at the same time, especially on Saturday. For K-pop fans, it was an especially busy day, as Jackson Wang and TWICE held their concerts on the same day, with the former at Axiata Arena and the latter at the National Hockey Stadium.
The party isn’t over yet, as several K-pop concerts and festivals are still to come later this year and early next year. It seems one more idol will be joining this line-up of events very soon.
On Friday (24th October), concert promoter T-Rex Studio teased fans with news that something big is coming to Malaysia from South Korea. “Everything feels a little chaotic lately… but maybe that’s a sign someone is about to show up! 👀,” the company wrote. Based on the caption of the first post, many speculated that it could be Jeon Somi (전소미), as her album is titled “Chaotic & Confused”.
If the original post was a little too subtle to notice, the latest hint may have made things clearer. Earlier today (Monday, 27th October), both T-Rex Studio and concert organiser Wolfstrike Brothers shared an illustration of a clam with the words “Something is about to fast forward. Are you ready? XOXO” written on it in lip gloss. The wording is a clear reference to the idol’s hit songs “Fast Forward” and “XOXO”, which were released in 2023 and 2021, respectively.
As expected, fans were thrilled by the possibility that Jeon Somi might be performing, or at least making an appearance, in Malaysia soon. Many expressed that they can’t wait for the official announcement, while a few hoped her show would not fall too close to, or on the same date as, other K-pop concerts scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur.
The last time Somi performed in Malaysia was at the Supalapa Festival 2024 in Genting Highlands. She also reportedly took the stage at a private event in KL that December. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement to learn more about her upcoming appearance, so stay tuned for further updates!
