The local music scene just got a major emotional punch with the launch of “Redam”, a stunning new duet collaboration between Sabah’s soft-voiced singer-rapper Jaclyn Chia and the uncompromising lyricist Yunk G.
This introspective ballad masterfully blends acoustic elements with rap, taking listeners on a deep dive into raw emotions – exploring wounds, suffering, and the struggle to suppress unspoken feelings. The track serves as a sonic narrative capturing the internal turmoil of someone facing loss and emotional trauma, yet choosing to stand strong despite a long-broken heart.
“This song is incredibly melancholic and personal for me. It’s like writing a letter to my wounded self, but still trying to keep living,” reveals Jaclyn Chia, whose previous work includes the contemporary modern joget track “Joget Mengikut Rasa”. Her collaboration with Yunk G on “Redam” showcases a completely different side of her artistry, moving from upbeat traditional rhythms to deeply introspective storytelling.
Yunk G brings his signature honest approach to the collaboration. Known for his active presence across both Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia’s music scenes, including his duet “Aku Shot” from the film “Adiwira”, he adds raw authenticity to the track. “I believe music should speak honestly. In ‘Redam’, I want to bring the perspective of those who often hide their pain because they’re afraid of looking weak,” he explains.
The creative process behind “Redam” brings together familiar collaborators in new ways. Composed by Shaifulhan Saidin, who previously worked with Jaclyn Chia on “Joget Mengikut Rasa”, the song features lyrics by D’Laila under Zirbad Music Production. This marks another project under Luncai Emas, which serves as both publisher and digital distributor, demonstrating their commitment to nurturing local talent across different musical styles.
“Jaclyn Chia’s beautiful voice combined with Yunk-G’s solid rap creates a soul-touching song that soothes wounds,” notes composer Shaifulhan, an exclusive composer under Luncai Emas who was discovered during one of their Copyright Workshops. This collaboration represents the label’s vision of bringing together diverse Malaysian artists to create meaningful music.

The music video for “Redam” and the single are now available on Luncai Emas’ YouTube channel and all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
