It’s rare but we do sometimes find someone whom we believe would have been our sibling in a different life. Well, luckily for Hong Kong artists Jacky Cheung (张学友) and Nick Cheung (张家辉), they even share the same surname!
Jacky and Nick are known to be very good friends both in and out of the entertainment circle. As they look similar and have the same surname, there have been rumours that the two are secretly related. Funnily enough, both Jacky and Nick were more than happy to play into the joke!
Nick once went viral for claiming he was the “younger brother of the God of Songs (referring to Jacky Cheung).” “I didn’t disclose my relationship with him before because I didn’t want to rely on my brother(‘s popularity). But now that I’ve won (an) award, (I can say that) he is my brother,” Nick reportedly stated.
The 58-year-old actor allegedly also took the opportunity to praise Jacky, claiming he is very wise and that his “older brother” is capable of solving any problem he encounters. However, he refused to disclose what they often spoke about as those were private matters.
Of course, Jacky Cheung got to hear about it and simply had to get in on the joke too. He later backed Nick up in a different interview, confirming that the ‘fact’ was true. Jacky emphasized that he had checked their genealogy and jokingly said: “Maybe hundreds of years ago we really were a family, that’s why we look so alike. We are half-brothers, and we have a very good relationship!”
Well, that brothership certainly seems like an integral part of Jacky Cheung and Nick Cheung’s friendship! The duo seem to have supported each other in their various works and have even performed together, much to the delight of fans. We sincerely hope their friendship and brotherhood lasts!
