Taiwanese singer A-Mei (阿密特) has had a successful career for nearly 30 years, performing sold-out shows globally and becoming an icon in the Mandopop music industry. However, some media outlets have recently reported that the 53-year-old may be preparing for a new stage of her life – marriage.
Recently, Taiwanese media reported that A-Mei, whose birth name is Kulilay Amit, is getting ready to settle down with her boyfriend, Sam Yao (姚善鏞). The singer has been dating the bartender for 13 years since 2011. The marriage rumours surfaced after reports that A-Mei is renovating her NT$200 million (approximately RM26.5 million) mansion in Taipei to become the couple’s newlywed house.

Adding fuel to the marriage rumours is that Sam has hinted at his plans to propose to A-Mei. The couple’s families have also given their blessings to the pair. Sam’s brother previously revealed that his family has long accepted the singer as part of their family. His mother has even bought baby products to encourage A-Mei and Sam to have a family. Fans have also supported the long-time couple, hoping to see them tie the knot soon.
While fans may be excited to hear that A-Mei and Sam are finally tying the knot, the singer’s manager, Isaac Chen (陳鎮川), denied the marriage rumours. He even called the allegations “groundless, totally unfounded and ridiculous”. However, he said that he would share any news from the singer if there were any. The couple also never release a statement in response to the rumours.

In the meantime, A-Mei has recently announced her upcoming concert, “ASMR Maxxx”, which is happening later this December. Sam has also shared the concert announcement on his social media, proudly supporting his girlfriend. Even if they aren’t making it official on paper anytime soon, there’s no denying that A-Mei and Sam have a lot of love and respect for each other.
