(Video) Coffee Shop Customers Irritated By Parents Ignoring Their Child’s High-Pitched Shrieking

We understand that parenting can be difficult. However, that doesn’t mean you should let others be at the mercy of your kids. As it turns out, these parents certainly didn’t care!

This TikToker wasn’t too happy when they had to suffer through a child’s shrieking and yelling while trying to enjoy a cup of coffee at a local coffee shop. To make matters worse, the child’s parents were also present, but were adamantly not lifting a finger to tend to their child!

TikToker @papayen91 recently uploaded a video of their experience at a local Coffee Bean store. Apparently, they had been sitting in the shop when someone, a small child, started shrieking their lungs out. The video also showed a group of people, one pair presumably the child’s parents, ignoring the high-pitched shrieking as they continued chatting with their group.

“To all parents out there, please be “responsible parents”,” the caption in the video reads. “Others were frustrated, and many left annoyed. Because (we) knew if we said something, it would (devolve) into a fight!” Apparently, the child had shrieked for over an hour, but the parents still continued to sit on their hands. People tried to get their attention by recording and replaying the noise, even staring at them, but they were obtuse with everything.

The TikToker later added that the child did not have autism or Down Syndrome, and asked other netizens what they would have done. Several suggested that the parents should have taken the child out of the premises to not annoy other patrons. “If my child started screaming, I would have left the restaurant, calmed them first, and once settled, gone back in,” one explained.

“I’ve worked (the) F&B (sector),” a netizen added. “This always happens. Most who come are usually professionals, but have no civic awareness.” Another added their two cents, saying: “It’s because they’re used to hearing their child scream so they aren’t disturbed by it. They can calmly converse. Only those around them will be irritated.” One comment offered a sure-fire solution, “Just be like me, order GrabFood,” they joked.

Well, there’s no denying that a child’s unwarranted shrieking can get irritating fast, especially when it seems like the parents do not care enough to stop them. We sincerely hope these parents will have more empathy for the public in the future. After all, regardless of how you feel about the situation, your kids are your responsibility.
