In a shocking turn of events, influencer and entrepreneur couple Alif Teega and Aisyah Hijanah were reportedly arrested for embezzling donations received through their business. This report comes after wife Aisyah denied using the donations for personal use.
Recently, media outlets reported that a local couple, both influencers, have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in investigations for embezzlement. Allegedly, the couple were misappropriating funds and not channelling the donations received to their intended recipients. Earlier today (11th July, Thursday), a video taken from the courthouse confirmed the couple’s identity as Alif and Aisyah.

Initially, reports never disclosed the name of the couple. However, netizens believed the couple in question were the HIJANAH founders based on the description and previous allegations. There were already rumours that the pair misappropriated donations, stemming from a claim that Aisyah fired a staff member for questioning HIJANAH’s audit statement. As of reporting, the couple are at the Putrajaya magistrate’s court for a remand application but nothing much was revealed about the case.
Many netizens have also reacted to the public figures’ arrest, with many showing positive reactions to the news. Alif and Aisyah previously went viral on social media for publicising Alif’s second marriage, which many claimed to be a marketing ploy to drive more attention to their modest wear business. However, Aisyah denied all the claims against her and her husband, adding she’ll take legal action towards those who spread the rumours.

News outlets will share more details about Alif and Aisyah’s case after their trial. In the meantime, netizens urged those who have donated to the couple’s business to assist in investigations.
