Asian streaming service iflix will be adapting a local version of famous web series “Hot Ones” where celebrities will be interviewed by a host over a platter of increasingly spicy chicken wings.
The Malaysian version however, will see the guests feasting on a uniquely Malaysian specialty – satay – where each bite is followed by a no-holds-barred question solicited directly from Malaysians on social media, to deliver the most raw, honest and hilarious reactions.
iflix has confirmed that the 1st guest for the Malaysian adaptation of “Hot Ones” will be Malaysia’s Reformasi icon, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will be answering hot and spicy question from the show’s host, Malaysian-German film actress, Maya Karin.
“We have an unprecedented opportunity to create content on topics that interest and resonates deeply with Malaysia’s youth culture. We know this, because we’re putting the power in their hands to candidly confront topics with a Malaysian political heavyweight and an enigma of a character like DS Anwar Ibrahim.” said Mark Francis, iflix Global Director of Original Programming.
Made famous by online food-culture magazine and YouTube channel “First We Feast”, the original format of “Hot Ones” is now on its 8th season, featuring more than 100 A-list personalities including Gordon Ramsay, Kevin Hart, Natalie Portman, Martin Garrix, Tony Hawk, T-Pain, Cara Delevigne, Shawn Mendes, Shaquille O’Neal, and more.
