When dating rumours of Hyuna and E’Dawn broke out yesterday, Cube Entertainment denied it, saying that the news was “groundless”. However, the couple has stepped up to say otherwise.
Yonhap News revealed that Hyuna and E’Dawn had personally admitted that they’ve been dating for 2 years. A source said that the idols wanted to publicly acknowledge the relationship so they “could confidently stand in front of their fans”.
The couple were quoted as saying, “While we knew that (dating publicly) would cause us to be linked in some way, both of us felt that it would be hard to meet our fans’ eyes (while performing) on stage. We wanted to honestly tell our fans and show ourselves confidently having fun performing.”
Hyuna revealed that she got to know the PENTAGON member in 2015, when he was still a trainee. He performed “Roll Deep” with Hyuna on music shows as a replacement for BTOB’s Ilhoon. “Our relationship continued as we made music together. We were very careful,” said Hyuna.
E’Dawn also helped in her solo promotions. “While he was not official credited, E’Dawn really helped a lot with my album,” she said.
“It may not be the most realistic, but I thought that admitting would lead to my true happiness. I was also worried that it would affect me members, so I told them first. I am very sorry to my fans, but I will repay you with hard work and promotions,” expressed E’Dawn.
Hyuna also took to Instagram to confirm the news. The soloist wrote, “I really wanted to be honest. For the fans who always support me and watch over me, I want to work hard on stage with a happy heart, with nothing to hide, as I always have. Thank you, and even though it’s really not enough just to say I love you, I have no other way of expressing it.”
Hyuna first made her debut in 2006 with Wonder Girls, then joined Cube Entertainment’s new girl group 4Minute in 2009, while E’Dawn debuted in 2016 with PENTAGON. E’Dawn, Hyuna, and another PENTAGON member Hui is in Triple H, a project group formed in 2017.
