When f(x) Amber blew our minds with her first solo “Shake That Brass” featuring SNSD’s Taeyeon last year, we knew that her solo career wouldn’t just end there. Sure enough, her latest solo track “Borders” was released earlier today (25th March)!
“Borders” marks the 7th release for South Korean entertainment mogul SM Entertainment’s “STATION” digital single project.
Written and composed by the rapper herself, “Borders” is an English rap ballad with a soft chorus that strongly showcases her vocal potential. Unlike her first solo track, this song has no glamorous concept and it tells the story of the real her.
“This song took me a lot of courage to write because I was always apprehensive of the subject it talked about. I’ve been doing this job (singer) for a long time and right now, I speak out as Amber of f(x) nor “celebrity” Amber, but just Amber. Just plain, simple, human Amber.”
She said that through this song, she hopes her fans will never give up on themselves, and that there will always be a silver lining. The chorus of the song also mentioned Amber’s mom, who is always supportive and loving.
“Cause mom said I’d be crossing borders, never be afraid even when you’re cornered. Stand up straight, fight your way, through the borders”
Once again, Amber proved to be a capable songwriter. “Borders” is definitely something that will show fans her “human” side. Even the music video (produced by DPR Production) shows different sides of the struggles that people face every day.
