Hype Picks: Best Things To Do In The Klang Valley This Week (26th September – 2nd October)

Hello beloved Hype readers! October is finally here and a mere two months away till the new year starts again. So finding things to do to occupy your time is a hassle. But don’t worry because we at Hype are here to help you out. Every week we specially curate a list of boredom-crushing events for you to fill your time with. Just pick your favourites and add it to your calendar!

This week features so many exciting events for everyone from senior citizens and children to even your beloved felines! So keep on scrolling and keep on reading and keep your calendar at bay, because the fun is only just starting!

1. Under the Stars: Zero Waste Festival

Date: 1st October (Saturday)

Time: 2pm – 9pm

Location: Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, Subang

If you’ve never heard of them, Zero Waste Malaysia is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that promotes the Zero Waste Concept as a means of sustainable living. The festival’s goal is to create no new trash and no single-use disposables, and this goal will be represented in all of the festival’s activities, including the Zero Waste Marketplace, Zero Waste Picnic, Workshops, Open Mic Performances, and much more. In addition to all the fun, Zee Avi will attend as a special guest appearance!

In order to develop sustainable behaviours, they are following up this fantastic festival with a 30 Day Virtual Zero Waste Challenge from 1st October until 30th October. The challenge is called Mission 30: Zero Waste Challenge. This year, there is even a sizable prize pool totaling over RM9,000 so be ready and RSVP now!

2. Amazing Seniors

Location: Atria Shopping Gallery, Petaling Jaya

In conjunction with the ‘International Day of Older Persons’ the first ever senior festival is being held right here in Petaling Jaya. During this three-day event, seniors can get advice on healthy ageing, retirement planning and find amazing offers from specialists within the field. Have fun and experience the joys of ageing while making lifelong memories with loved ones over the course of these three days. Bring your loved ones along to enjoy a full day of surprises!

3. The Social Table featuring. Aliyaa

Location: Level 8 at Flock, W Kuala Lumpur

The Social Table is doing a collaboration with Aliyaa, a pioneer in introducing Sri Lankan food to Malaysia. One of the first restaurants in Kuala Lumpur that is truly authentically Sri Lankan and faithful to its heritage and culture. The chefs from Flock and Aliyaa will present a menu featuring the top Sri Lankan comfort food recipes as well as traditional Flock specialties. 4. Kabut In The Park 8.0

Location:KL Performing Arts Centre, Sentul Park

If you want to enjoy some shopping or even just chill at a park, you can do this all at the same time at this Khon Thai Kabut In The Park yard sale. With almost 45 Konmari vendors including everything you could think of from clothing and furnitures to plants and appliances. This year features a mini Thai Fest that you simply cannot miss! 5. La La Lian 2.0 Joanne Kam’s One Woman Comedy Extravaganza!

If you are a fan of comedy then this is a must-watch! Documenting the life of Joanne Kam Poh Poh, Malaysia’s Queen of Comedy who rose from poor origins to become a chubby girl with a big heart and an even bigger appetite! La La Lian 2.0 is a revival of Joanne Kam’s critically praised La La Lian show from 2018, which had a sold-out national tour stopping in more than 5 cities! 7. Ekspo Kucing 2022

The fifth edition of Ekspo Kucing this year will take place at MATRADE in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Habib will be offering the widest selection of jewellery from gold to diamonds and even gemstones that will accommodate each person’s preferences and unique personality. There will also be a host of activities such as; styling sessions with celebrity stylist Min Luna, fashion stylist Farah Dinana and celebrity makeup artist Ayu Kirana! The showcase is happening now until 2nd of October, so head on over to Pavilion, Bukit Jalil now!
