Hype Eats: Experience A Whimsy Taste Of Japanese & Western Cuisines At Finch KL

What’s grander than a grand launch party of the most whimsical lounge in Kuala Lumpur? That’s right, Finch KL has officially opened and is ready to serve another brand new menu that is simply DIVINE!!!

Finch KL recently threw their Whimsical Afternoon Tea and Grand Launch Party at the Westin KL in Bukit Bintang and the food was simply to die for. The lounge was actually opened in 2021 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to wait another year to celebrate the most whimsical dining experience there is.

If you’re crazy about sushi then you should definitely try the High Tea menu, a.k.a the Hiru-Tea (RM138), that has a variety of well-known Japanese culinary art like the Sashimi salad, Chuka Wakame, Chuka Hotate, Yawara Kani Maki, Salmon Ball Nigiri, Chef’s Selection Sashimi and the mini tarts (salmon, maguro and white fish). The best part? It’s served in little CAGES!

After having some sushi, the Maki and Carpaccio spread is next! From the Maki dishes, the mouth-watering Foie Gras Anago (RM75) and Tsurai Aburi Salmon (RM45) will be a delight for your taste buds. For those of you who might not be familiar with it, Carpaccio is a dish of thinly sliced raw sushi served with truffle dressing—favourite recommendations are the Ocean Mikkusu (RM75) and Tokyo Hamachi (RM85).

Don’t forget the cool beverages, Finch’s signature mocktails. They have Apple Wanderlust which is a blend of Pegaga, Apple, Aloe Vera and Honey, and the Magic Flower, a concoction made from the Bunga Kantan, Lychee and Lime. A selection of tea is also provided for you to choose from, too—Earl Grey, Chamomile, Hot Green Tea and Moringa Tea (RM12).

Coming up, have a taste of the Lobster Bisque (RM60) from the Western part of the menu and savour every slurp till the last drop. But don’t stop there, get acquainted with the Spicy Butter Fresh Water Prawns together with golden deep-fried Man Tao Buns (RM80) for a creamy, buttery delight.

Finally, the dish that will swoop in and grab your attention as its flavour lingers on the tip of your tongue, is the Black Cod with Mushroom Risotto (RM85), an Alaskan Black Cod cooked deliciously with Arborio Rice and Button Mushrooms. To top it all off, the best way to end your meal is with the Grilled Corn (RM23)—chilli and sweet corn mixed together, giving a spicy yet sweet tang to it.

The elegant interior makes for dreamy Instagram-worthy pics for any occasion. Also, kudos to the chefs for creating such scrumptious dishes inspired by the taste of Japanese and Western cuisines. Of course, there’s more on the menu, but you have to find it out for yourself. So, do check them out on their Facebook and Instagram!
