We closed 2024 on a high note with the Kota Kinabalu Countdown, headlined by EXO’s Suho (수호), alongside 2NE1’s Minzy (공민지), Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon (김효연) and former Dal Shabet member Suvin (달수빈). While no official announcement has yet been made on who will take the stage this year, it has been reported that one of the acts will be returning to Malaysia for another festival.
The Flamewave Music Festival, an extension of the Kota Kinabalu Countdown, also gave fans the chance to see the aforementioned female idols perform their DJ sets on stage. Two Korean artists have now been named as part of the upcoming line-up.

Over the long weekend, organiser Dream Factory Entertainment announced at a press conference during the MATTA Fair 2025 that EXID’s Hyelin (서혜린) and former Dal Shabet member Suvin are set to perform at this year’s Flamewave Music Festival. According to MyKpopHuntress, more artists will be revealed in the lead-up to the event.
Unlike last year, this edition of the festival will not be held at the end of December to coincide with New Year’s celebrations. Instead, it is scheduled to take place next month. Here are the confirmed details so far:
Flamewave Music Festival 2025
- Date: 25th (Saturday) – 26th (Sunday) October 2025
- Venue: Stadium Likas Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
- Organiser: Dream Factory Entertainment
- Ticketing: TBA

Since the announcement, fans have speculated that BIGBANG’s Daesung could be the headliner, or at least part of the line-up, after the organiser previously hinted that a male idol would be returning to Malaysia this year. Regardless, the two-day festival is certain to have everyone dancing the night away. While we await further updates, here’s a look back at last year’s event to give concertgoers a preview of what they can expect this time.
