How To Be Prank-Proof: Your April Fool’s Survival Guide!

Everyone loves a good prank, but no one wants to get pranked. You may have had no intention of pranking anyone that day, but people you know may have been planning on it for weeks, like a menacing villain. Having a good laugh is nice, but April Fool’s Day is when nothing is sacred, as even the closest of friends or loved ones may have had something up their sleeves for a while.

So act like it’s 2020 again and hide away in your homes; here is what you need to know and do to be prank-proof for this season of tomfoolery.

Hunker In Your Bunker

We weren’t kidding when we said to isolate yourself. Staying inside and away from people is one way to get through the day without getting pranked. Stock up on food, snacks, and drinks, and hide away in your home or in your room. Leave your safe space sparingly, like when you have to go to the restroom, and then immediately run back. It’s like medicine, where prevention is better than cure; you can heal an injured pride if it wasn’t injured in the first place.

Prepare Those Food Rations

What makes pranks troublesome is the fact that they can come in all shapes and sizes and can even be in your food. With that said, avoid food or condiments that have already been opened, as some trickery might have been at play. If you notice that a bottle of chocolate sauce is unsealed, then what’s inside will most likely be anything but chocolate. Only eat those that are still sealed or packaged, cook something so that you know you are safe, or order takeout.

Stay Away From Social Media

It may seem like an easy thing to do, but it’s not – do not test. As our main source of news and entertainment, social media is a really helpful tool for us to be more informed about the world and our acquaintances around us. Which is why you have to stay away from it for at least a day; the last thing you want to do is something embarrassing that you and your circle of friends will reminisce about from time to time. Read a book, work on a hobby, or do anything else but use social media.

Trust No One

TENOR

What makes a good prank an effective one is when your target doesn’t know what hit them; the same logic applies to you. Always be on the lookout for those suspicious friends you know will prank you, as they may be ready to pounce at any moment and they are just waiting for the proper moment so it can have the maximum effect. It can come from a friend, relative, or even your partner. If you feel something is up, you’d best start looking around for hidden cameras because things may go down fast.

Don’t Be Butthurt

TENOR

With all that preparation, you may get through the day prank-free, but when you do fall for one, remain level-headed. No one wants a sore loser; you got pranked, and they got you good. A small reminder that everyone needs to hear is that, at the end of the day, it’s all for laughs, and it wasn’t meant to hurt anyone. However, that doesn’t mean you should let things slide; depending on the severity of the act, you have every right to fight back and call them out. If it’s all for fun, then that’s okay; there is always next year to get back at them.
