In February 2021, Hong Kong actress Selena Lee (李施嬅) announced her engagement to boyfriend Anson Cha (車崇健). Unfortunately, the pair have called off their engagement and decided to split four years later.
The actress took to Instagram on 9th February 2025 (Sunday) to share the sad news with her fans. In her post, the star wrote, “Two months ago, Mr (Anson) Cha and I decided to take different paths for our future in a new way. I am grateful for the past eight and a half years of our journey together. We are both doing well. We made this decision with love, gratitude, and blessings for each other. Thank you all for respecting our decision and privacy.”
Selena never disclosed the reason for the split but shared some advice about relationships. The star wrote, “No relationship is an absolute endpoint, and no separation is an absolute conclusion. So, don’t be fixated on certain ideas or overly concerned about what others think to the point that it influences your decisions. Instead, follow your heart, listen to yourself, and choose what brings you peace and happiness”.
Towards the end of her post, the actress asked for privacy for her and her partner, who is a non-celebrity. Friends and fans alike have since expressed support for Selena following her announcement. Stars like Sharon Chan (陳敏之), Nancy Wu (胡定欣) and Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) have commented on the post, showing love for the recently single 43-year-old. On the other hand, fans say they’ll support the public figure in all her decisions.
Selena and Anson have been together for almost nine years and have been engaged for four years. Anson works as a fitness instructor for celebrities and has his own company specialising in professional training programs. While the actress never detailed the reason for the separation, netizens believed that the pair’s careers might have played a part because Selena once said she was too busy with work to plan for her wedding.
