Last year, Hong Kong singer Remus Choy (蔡一傑) took a break from music to focus on his health following a brain tumour diagnosis. Fast forward a few months, and the singer appears to be gearing up for his long-awaited comeback with his Grasshopper (草蜢) bandmates.
Over the weekend, the 58-year-old posted a video of himself working out at the gym. Remus has been sharing bits of his daily life on social media as he takes a break from performing to focus on his recovery. However, in the captions, the singer appears to hint at a possible comeback: “Everyone has been waiting so patiently. Wait, the concert will be announced soon”. Remus also included the hashtags #Grasshopper and #40thAnniversary.

The captions and hashtags lead many to believe the singer will soon return to the stage with his Grasshopper bandmates. The trio, composed of Remus, his brother Calvin Choy (蔡一智), and longtime friend Edmond So (蘇志威), is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, so fans have been eager for news of a celebration concert or tour. However, the group has kept details under wraps following Remus’ health issues.
In the comments, fans express excitement over Remus’ hint. Many said they look forward to seeing the legendary trio, especially Remus, back on stage. Some foreign fans also hoped that the group would perform in their home countries. However, some fans also called for Remus to prioritise his health, saying he shouldn’t push himself to return to music if he’s not physically ready.

The group last performed together in August 2024, as Remus had to miss Grasshopper’s San Francisco concert in September. The group explained the situation, saying the singer was “not fit to perform in public or attend any public functions”. It wasn’t until October 2024 that fans learned about Remus’ health problems after the singer revealed that he underwent surgery to remove a brain tumour. In the post, he also showed off the scar on his head.
Of course, we look forward to seeing Remus back on stage with his Grasshopper groupmates, but we also hope he’ll prioritise his health. What are your thoughts on this? Are you ready for Grasshopper’s comeback?
