The vibrant and iconic shopping centre in Bukit Bintang is set to open a brand-new retail destination, named Hijau (which means green).
Hijau spans approximately 22,000 square feet and hosts a green outlook. This green space is provided to help shoppers escape and de-stress without leaving the city. Shopping is still a must though, so entrepreneurs are invited to build their businesses here, thanks to business models and packages available.
Hijau also aims to provide a place for immersive on-ground activations, aside from shopping. The retail destination came about as a way for Fahrenheit88 to connect with shoppers who are conscious of the environment. There has been an ongoing trend among younger shoppers being aware of their impact on nature. As such, Hijau offers a green sanctuary for them amid the busyness of Bukit Bintang.
So, what can be found in Hijau?
Well, BookXcess has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be the anchor retailer in Hijau. Moving from Level 2, their permanent space in Hijau is approximately 13,000 feet. It will become the largest bookstore in Bukit Bintang, generating a mesmerising haven for all book lovers. With the addition of BookXcess, it will be a celebration of ‘contemporary art space’.
Andrew Yap, Co-Founder of BookXcess Sdn Bhd, says it’s thrilling to be a key part of Hijau, as it is also Hijau’s first retailer. “We have already adopted green elements and brought nature into some of our other bookstores but BookXcess in Hijau at Fahrenheit88 will take our green and sustainability credentials to an even higher level,” he stated.
Dato’ Joyce Yap, CEO of Retail, Fahrenheit88 is also confident that the store is a “suitable addition to the unique concept that Hijau represents”. “The garden landscape at Hijau is a positive shopping experience and we cannot wait for shoppers to enjoy it in 2021,” she added. Hijau will be opened in the third quarter of 2021.
