Good Vibes Festival Organisers Issues Letter Of Claim To The 1975

It baffles us that weeks after the fiasco of Good Vibes Festival, neither The 1975 nor Matty Healy have shown any remorse nor offered an apology for the damage they’ve caused. In fact, the 34-year-old lead vocalist has gone on to mock Malaysia on social media.

Last week, Good Vibes Festival announced that the team are currently working on a comprehensive refund and concert-goers can start submitting their refund requests from 14th August onwards. After staying silent for awhile, Future Sound Asia is finally taking action against the British rock band.

Here’s the official statement:

“Future Sound Asia (FSA), the organisers of Good Vibes Festival 2023 (GVF2023) has issued Letters of Claim to the band The 1975 (the Band) demanding that the Band acknowledge their liability and compensate FSA for damages incurred. The Band’s failure to do so will result in FSA pursuing legal proceedings in the Courts of England.

FSA would like to reiterate their strong disapproval of the Band’s behaviour during their performance at GVF2023. In particular, lead singer Matthew Timothy Healy’s use of abusive language, equipment damage, and indecent stage behaviour not only flagrantly breached local guidelines and Malaysian laws but also tarnished the reputation of the 10-year-old festival.

The Band’s actions intentionally contravened the agreement they had with FSA for their performance at GVF2023. This breach led to the festival’s cancellation, resulting in significant financial losses for FSA and negatively impacting local artists and businesses that depended on the festival’s success—affecting the livelihoods of many Malaysians.

FSA deeply values the trust that fans and regulatory authorities have placed in them over the years. The organisation remains unwavering in its commitment to fostering vibrant live music experiences in Malaysia, ensuring full compliance with local laws and regulations.”

Both Matty Healy and Tom DeLonge riled up Malaysians when the duo kissed during a recent concert and the Blink-182 guitarist took a jab at Malaysia in his Instagram post.
