Go On A ‘Crazy Kopi’ Tour Of These 5 Splendid Cafés

Attention coffee aficionados! In conjunction with “International Coffee Day” on 1st October, let’s celebrate together by enjoying the most brew-tiful drinks known to mankind (or at least within Bukit Jalil). A known fact to every coffee lover, the best way to start one’s day is with a wonderful cup of coffee. So, what better way to start it off by checking out our coffee tour list for guidance?

We at Hype were invited to a “Crazy Kopi Tour” where we were taken to some of the hottest spots for the best and most unique coffee in KL. From coffee cocktails to dirty coffee, let us show you a sneak peak of what a good cup of coffee should be like.  The “Crazy Kopi Tour” features five coffee shops all strategically located in Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

1. illy Caffè

Location: illy Cafè, Level 3 (Orange Zone)

Recommended coffee: Novula

Starting off strong, “illy Cafè” managed to delight our taste buds with their glorious “Novula” from the “illycrema” coffee series. The glorious “illycrema” is an incredible variation to illy’s espresso that is whipped and cooled to create a creamy, rich and indulgent coffee treat. The “Novula” coffee is a perfect mix of hot chocolate on the lower half, cold creamy coffee on the upper half and then topped off with delicious, fresh whipped cream. “Novula” is a sweet treat even non-coffee lovers can enjoy. Make sure to pair your coffee with illy’s freshly-made pastries as well for a flavourful combo.

2. Artelier

Location: Artelier Coffee, Level 3 (Orange Zone)

Recommended coffee: Dirty Coffee Series

For coffee aficionados, “Artelier Coffee” is a must-try. Japanese master barista Masahiro Aoki, uses his top-notch skills to brew drinks so well made they’ll drive you mocha mad! A cup of “Dirty” is prepared by pouring hot, flavourful espresso over extremely cold milk. Every month, “Artelier Coffee” creates a new “Dirty” speciality coffee, such as “Dirty (Latte)”, “Dirty Houjicha”, “Dirty Matcha”, and others. Try their “Dirty Mocha”, available exclusively soon in October.

3. Tsutaya Books

Location: Tsutaya Books, Level 2 (Orange Zone)

Recommended coffee: Espresso Tonic

When you are in Tsutaya Bookstore, browsing for books and exploring the nooks and crannies of the bookstore be sure to check out their in-house café that offers a variety of great coffee. We recommend the “Espresso Tonic”, which is an innovative blend of espresso with tonic. The first sip will definitely surprise you! As an added bonus, the espresso should also be paired with the “Mont Blanc Dorayaki”, an autumn-themed Japanese pancake filled with sweetened chestnut cream, for a delightful light treat.

4. HWC Coffee

Location: HWC Coffee, Level 2 (Pink Zone)

Recommended coffee: Neroli Blossom

While reading through new coffees to try, you might’ve come across something known as the “Coffee Review”. It is actually one of the top coffee guides in the world, created by coffee sommeliers with the goal of reviewing coffees with accuracy and thoroughness specifically for coffee lovers to enjoy.

Well, HWC Coffee has just revealed a new seasonal specialty coffee bean, “Neroli” which received 93 points in the coffee review. This makes “Neroli” the top-rated coffee bean HWC Coffee has to offer! If you enjoy flowery and honey notes together with tart fruit notes and deep, aromatic overtones of wood, “Neroli Blossom” is specially curated for you!

5. CO2 Coffee Bar

Location: CO2 Coffee Bar, Level 3 (Pink Zone)

Recommended coffee: Passiflora, Coco Get Nut, Single Origin Espresso

CO2 Coffee Bar offers a number of nuanced coffee cocktails, or “cofftails” as they’re known there, blending a  lively variety of caffeine, fruits, smokey spices and herbs. If you are a coffee thrill seeker, you should definitely hit this place up! We recommend the Coco Get Nut, a blend of in-house blend coffee with Malacca coconut sugar and coconut milk that enhances the taste of black chocolate and its nutty notes. It is such a wonderfully revitalising pick-me-up that will leave you wanting more!
