G-Dragon (지드래곤) is an undeniable fashionista known for his unique and bold fashion choices. After releasing several footwear and apparel collaborations, the K-pop icon is ready to launch his first timepiece collection in partnership with Jacob & Co.
The collection is in conjunction with the opening of Jacob & Co.’s first boutique in Seoul. The bespoke Astronomia Solar G-Dragon timepiece features 28 baguette white diamonds and 48 multi-coloured sapphires. The dial model is the Astronomia Solar Baguette, custom-fitted with a turquoise colour – G-Dragon’s favourite. Other highlights include a rose gold dragon wrapped in a white spine and a ring that reads “The world is mine”.
Another G-Dragon element in this one-of-a-kind creation is the daisy-shaped dial to symbolise the star’s brand, Peaceminusone. G-dragon’s recent album “Übermensch” is also engraved onto the watch’s caseback, cementing his creative vision. The stunning timepiece retails for a whopping USD1 million (approximately RM4.46 million). However, it’ll surely make a timeless collectible for any dedicated G-Dragon fan.
The BIGBANG leader spoke about the partnership with the brand, saying, “I’m happy to have the opportunity to collaborate with Jacob & Co., a brand that anyone who has loved hip-hop since they were young knows.”. He added, “During the collaboration, I was reminded that watches are products that require complex and delicate craftsmanship, so this collaboration is truly an honour. I would be grateful if everyone showed a lot of interest and enjoyed it together.”
In the meantime, Jacob & Co.’s new Seoul boutique boasts the largest-scale retailer in Asia. The interior features a luxurious atmosphere unique to the brand. Besides G-Dragon, other stars who attended the opening ceremony were singers Taeyang (태양), Hwasa (화사) and BamBam (뱀뱀), and actress Keum Sae Rok (금새록) and actor Ma Dong Seok (마동석).
