Heads up, Malaysian motorists! Pump prices for fuel will see an increase for July effective today (Friday, 1st July).

Petron Petrol Station Operators Association president Datuk Alang Zari Ishak confirmed that RON95 and RON97 will go up by 5 sen to RM1.75 and RM2.10 per litre respectively. Besides that, the price of diesel will also see an increase of 5 sen to RM1.65 per litre.

This is the first rise in petrol prices since April. In June, RON95 and RON97 was retailed at RM1.70 and RM2.05 per litre respectively while regular diesel was sold at RM1.60 per litre.

Since 1st December 2014, the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry established a managed float system. This took effect after the government decided to remove all fuel subsidies.
