Another week, another whirlwind of totally EXTRA events!
We were ‘frying’ high with three icons, helped launch a finger-licking-good music festival, Netflix-ed and chilled with LG, peeked under Dermalogica’s flawless skin, and MUCH MORE! We were THERE, and we were vibing like a boss! Just check out our social diary for this past week (don’t be jelly!):
McDonald’s ‘Icon Meets Icon’ Celebration
What’s better than two icons? Three icons, of course! In celebration of International French Fries Day, McDonald’s Malaysia brought together the most iconic figures in the country; their delicious French fries, the KL Tower, and the one and only Dato Sheila Majid!
The night was not only filled with yummy food and good music by the legendary singer (who rocked the stage with some of her biggest hits), but we also got to witness a world record! Displayed on the KL Tower itself was the tallest French fry, standing 245.283 metres! Truly a historic moment to behold!

Kepci Music Fest PC
KFC is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Malaysia in style! At a recent press conference we attended, the beloved fast-food franchise announced that it will be holding a special festival, filled with fun activities and games, for their loyal customers in Selangor, Sabah and Johor this August and October. The event will feature top Malaysian singers including Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Amy Search, Ella and Misha Omar, as well as famed artistes like Yonnyboii, MASDO, Luqman Podolski, Insomniacks, Evie Feroza, DOLLA, COEX and many more!
The concert will take place in Selangor at Stadium Melawati on 26th August, Sabah at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) on 6th October, and Johor at Stadium Larkin on 21st October. Here’s how you can score your ticket!

Ziana Zain & Hasif Upin Music Video Launch
In a rare event, two Malaysian singers from different generations joined forces to create a musical masterpiece! Legendary songstress Ziana Zain made her grand return to the music scene with the single ‘Waktu’, a duet with rising vocalist, Hasif Upin – and it’s simply magical!
We were among the first to watch the official music video of the power ballad at a special screening party, recently. We learned that the dark and eerie MV was filmed in Sepang and Kepong last month, and the filming lasted two days.

French-Inspired Tea At The RuMa Hotel
French-inspired confectionary are a dime a dozen, but the afternoon tea recently hosted by The RuMa Hotel featured desserts that were on another level! We not only got to enjoy their afternoon fare at the special event, but were also treated to a Chocolate Fondant worship session by celebrated chocolatier and pâtissier, Chef Philippe Kotzky of DECOTATOO in Indonesia; and The RuMa Hotel’s very own pastry chef, Chef Tai Boon Ee.
Under the two chefs’ diligent guidance, our self-made chocolate fondants were tasty, but not as delicious as the promised chocolate-infused afternoon tea spread! The exclusive menu is also available to the public at The RuMa Hotel’s The LIBRARI from 16th July till 27th August 2023.

Pott Glasses & Delics Retail ‘Superstars’ Event
We got to check out some great new sunnies at the ‘Superstars’ pop-up event hosted by Pott Glasses and Delics Retail at Flaaah The Bakery, recently. The new sunglasses series is a collaborative effort between Pott Glasses and Delics Retail.
There are three styles from the series – Vega, Altair and Lyra – and all the shades are inspired by popular silhouettes from the 2000s, but reimagined to fit the fashion-forward people of today.

Sunsilk Natural’s ‘Honey & Passion Fruit’ Line Launch
We had a refreshing whiff of loveliness at the recent launch of Sunsilk Natural’s ‘Honey & Passion Fruit’ line! The Watsons-exclusive products are also a collaboration with Tealive, so we also got to try drinks from their new Fresh Fruit Cooler series.
The launch at Lutono in Mid Valley City also gave us the opportunity to indulge in fun DIY activities, such as making honey and passion fruit-themed hairclips, and decorating honey jars. It rocked!

‘Clear Start By Dermalogica’ Experience
We had a blast with Clear Start by Dermalogica at their recent media launch! While enjoying creamy and delicious ice cream inspired by their skincare line, the brand walked us through their illustrious history. Who knew there was a brand out there dedicated to helping teenagers and their breakouts?
They also demonstrated the how-tos on using their skincare, and we even got the chance to lay our hands on their products. The highlight of the day was getting our fortune told by a fortune cookie. It read: “The best version of yourself is when you love being in your own skin” – and we couldn’t agree more!

Picnic In The Park @ Suria KLCC
Suria KLCC recently launched its first “Picnic In The Park” – an experience that offers a break from our busy lives! We were able to sit back and enjoy a curated picnic set-up, with a delectable dinner from Burger & Lobster, refreshing Whittard of Chelsea iced tea, and snacks such as popcorn and cotton candy from nearby booths.
Guests could also visit the Bath & Body Works booth to immerse themselves in captivating scents of paradise, or capture memorable moments at the Hot Air Balloon Photobooth. Additionally, kids (and adults!) had a great time interacting with the cool Motion-Sensor Dancing Flower. If you’re hoping for a quick and easy retreat, then this exclusive and intimate event might be just what you need!
Generasi YouTube Sharing Session
We recently got to hang out with four well-known YouTube content creators in Malaysia: Amir Arsad, Fikri Zamri, Khairul Jamain and Ivor Vian Z. During the session, the panel shared how they came to find their content niche, their unique points of view, and the impact they are currently making through their content on YouTube. They also shared some interesting advice for fellow up-and-coming YouTubers.
