To welcome 2025, foodpanda has unveiled the top food and grocery trends from last year, celebrating the favourite foods and beverages that fuelled Malaysians throughout the year. Armed with data-driven insights, foodpanda continues to deliver joy and convenience to households nationwide.

Top Dishes of the Year:

Local food was, unsurprisingly, the star of the year. For the second consecutive year, Roti Canai claimed the top spot as the most-ordered dish on foodpanda. Following closely was the ever-popular Nasi Goreng Kampung, a dish that brings satisfaction and comfort to countless Malaysian households.

Roti Canai has become more than a meal; this iconic dish not only nourished Malaysians daily but also played a role in Malaysia’s breakfast culture being honoured on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2024.

Truly Malaysian Drink:

Malaysians’ love affair with Milo remains as strong as ever; with over 700,000 cups ordered, that’s enough to fill 24 swimming pools! As a staple across generations, this chocolate malt drink is more than just a beverage; it is a warm hug in a cup and the ultimate pick-me-up.

“bekal” by foodpanda:

The “bekal” by foodpanda, the first end-to-end halal-certified food delivery service, continues to grow, delivering over 23 million halal-certified orders in 2024. This milestone underscores foodpanda’s dedication to ensuring the integrity of halal deliveries, catering to the diverse needs of Malaysians with confidence and reliability. After exploring this year’s food ordering trends, let’s dive into the impact created through its other services.

pandamart: A Household Hero

This year saw a surge in demand for household staples, with over 500,000 loaves of bread and more than 160,000 cartons of eggs ordered via pandamart. That is enough bread to match the weight of 50 Asian elephants! Whole chicken and enoki mushrooms also emerged as pantry essentials this year, consistently sought after by homes across the country. These items showcased Malaysians’ love for fresh and versatile ingredients delivered directly to kitchens through foodpanda.

foodpanda’s dedicated riders achieved extraordinary feats in 2024. Together, they covered a staggering 1,133,768,562 kilometres—that’s more than 28,000 trips around the globe. Generosity also flourished, with customers tipping riders an impressive RM12.4 million, reflecting heartfelt gratitude for their tireless service.

In 2024, foodpanda expanded its offerings like never before, onboarding over 24,000 new restaurants to bring even greater variety and choice to customers across Malaysia. From household names like McDonald’s, KFC, and Marrybrown, which continued to dominate as the top three overall restaurants, to smaller local gems such as Damascus Restaurant, The Douglas Street, and Sarah Hannah Cafe, which cultivated strong community followings, foodpanda showcased its commitment to supporting businesses of all sizes.

As foodpanda reflects on a year of connecting Malaysians with their favourite meals and household essentials, the platform is more determined than ever to continue innovating, supporting local communities, and celebrating the vibrant culinary heritage of Malaysia. Here’s to another year of sharing joy, one delivery at a time.
