“Solo Leveling”, adapted from a webtoon of the same name, is one of the most popular anime series today. Fans also praise the voice actors for the main character, Sung Jinwoo, in three language dubs: Korean, Japanese, and English. With its growing success, it was only a matter of time before it was announced that a live-action adaptation would be made.
According to Kakao Entertainment, a live-action adaptation is currently in the works. Since production is still in its writing stages, casting has not been announced, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any fan suggestions for who they think could play the main protagonist of the series. Here are some Korean actors and idols who could have the potential to play Sung Jinwoo:
1. Hwang In-youp (황인엽)

South Korean actor Hwang In-youp made his acting debut in 2018 in the web series “Why”, and won a Brand Customer Loyalty Award in the Best Male Rookie Actor category. Fans believe that not only does the 33-year-old bear a resemblance to Sung Jinwoo, but he could also perfectly portray the complexity of the “Solo Leveling” character.
2. Lee Jong Suk (이종석)

Lee Jong Suk has starred in countless films and series since he made his acting debut in 2005. His most notable works include “School 2013”, “I Can Hear Your Voice” and “Romance Is a Bonus Book”. The actor has also starred in several action-thriller films in the past which makes him a great candidate to play Sung Jinwoo, especially since the character is known to be the strongest hunter in the portal fantasy series.
3. Kim Soo-hyun (김수현)

Kim Soo-hyun may not necessarily look the part, but there’s a reason why he’s one of the highest-paid actors in Korea. He has starred in countless drama series and films, winning numerous prestigious acting awards over the years. “Solo Leveling” is not only an anime with visually stunning fight scenes, but it also has many dramatic and gut-wrenching moments, which we personally believe he could perfectly portray.
4. Cha Eun-woo (차은우)

The youngest star on this list, Cha Eun-woo, first debuted as an actor before becoming a member of the K-pop boy band ASTRO, playing a minor role in the 2014 film “My Brilliant Life”. Like the other celebrities on this list, the idol has also won numerous acting awards for his performances, proving he’s more than capable of taking on any role. He once showcased his sword-fighting abilities in the fantasy drama “Island”, which makes him a great candidate to play Sung Jinwoo, who also wields blades in combat.
Which one of these actors do you wish to see play the main protagonist in the live-action adaptation of “Solo Leveling”?
