E-hailing drivers tend to come across many types of customers – from the ones with odd requests to the ones who would steal someone else’s ride. Recently, a Grab driver, Farhan Ismail, shared an overview of six different types of customers based on his experiences interacting with them.

The first type of customer Farhan listed were Africans, who he said are usually late and will ask to make stops at convenience stores. He also shared that they often wear strong perfume with scents that take an entire day to go away. The next type of customer was Arabians, who are also always late but will sweet-talk him when they get in the car. Farhan added he’d receive better ratings and sometimes free treats if he chatted about food with his Arabian customers.

The Grab driver also shared about Bangladeshi customers, saying they often include the wrong pick-up location, which frustrates him. The most shocking experience was when he received a pick-up location in the middle of the AKLEH Highway. The fourth type of customer Farhan talked about was Malaysians, who he says have been okay so far. However, he added that some can get heated on political topics.

The Facebook user also shared the mannerism of a typical female customer, saying they’re always in a rush and are most likely to eat in the car. He also said that male drivers who are nicely dressed and fake a deeper voice could receive praise – but “if your face looks like a catfish”, Farhan advises to sit quietly and not do anything.

Last on Farhan’s list were the B40 or M40 customers who want to live the T20 lifestyle. He said these customers try to appear well-educated and dress with luxury items. However, despite the flashy appearance, the e-hailing employee noted that these customers typically are dropped off at government housing areas.

After sharing his experiences, Farhan’s post had many netizens amused as his observations were rather interesting. Some even said that Farhan must’ve had fun driving around such customers. Other Grab drivers joked that they’d never thought to compile a list like Farhan’s.

After reading his list, we hope that Farhan keeps getting more customers because we’d like to see what else he’ll add to the post.
