K-pop may still dominate global playlists, but Southeast Asia’s music scene has been steadily carving out its own space. From viral TikTok hits to survival-show success stories, the region is producing polished boy bands with strong identities, dedicated fanbases and serious international potential.

It’s about time we start showing more love to our local acts and SEAblings, because there’s plenty of talent worth discovering. If you’re ready to expand your playlist, here are some Southeast Asian boy groups to have on your radar.

Formed through Astro’s “Big Stage Alpha” competition in 2025, this Malaysian boy group quickly captured attention for their strong vocal line and polished performances. Each of the seven members brings a distinct strength, creating a balanced and dynamic group presence. Their emotional track “P Ramlee Saloma” awakens all the feels, with the group’s powerful vocal delivery. With undeniable stage chemistry, they’re proof that Malaysia’s boy band scene is only getting stronger.

2. SB19

You’ve probably heard their hit “Gento” while scrolling on TikTok, it’s one of those tracks that instantly sticks. The five-member group, composed of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin, revolutionised the Filipino music scene by pioneering the P-pop genre and setting a new standard for idol training and performance. Beyond catchy hooks, SB19 are known for their artistic involvement, often participating in songwriting, choreography and creative direction.
