2025 has unfortunately gotten off to a poor start for concerts and music events in Malaysia. Following the four fatalities at the Pinkfish Festival, Selangor Police have decided to suspend all concert permit approvals until further notice. In addition, it was announced that the K-pop girl group Billlie’s concert, which was due to be held at Jio Space next month, has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, another upcoming event in Kuala Lumpur will have to be rescheduled following a recent tragedy. Earlier this week, Future Sound Asia issued a statement to inform fans that French DJ Nico Moreno’s Insolent Rave event has been postponed. Here’s why:

According to the statement, the concert, which is supposed to be held next weekend on 18th January (Saturday) at Mega Star Arena, has been postponed out of respect for those affected by a recent tragedy. “Nico Moreno and Future Sound Asia have decided to postpone the event. We are deeply saddened and wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to all those impacted. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. All ticket holders will automatically receive a full refund,” the organiser wrote on their Instagram post.
The refund process could take about 14 to 30 business days. Although the specific tragedy was not mentioned, it can be assumed they were referring to either the Pinkfish Festival incident, where four people died from a possible drug overdose, or the wildfire in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, which claimed at least 10 lives and destroyed the homes of many, including Hollywood celebrities. However, the former seems more likely.

Fans were understandably disappointed by the news. Some questioned why the show had to be rescheduled if the venue was in Kuala Lumpur, since the suspension of concert permit approvals in Selangor would not affect this particular performance. Others speculated it could be due to low ticket sales. Regardless, if Nico Moreno sincerely postponed the event out of respect for the deceased, then it’s completely understandable.
Unfortunately, no new date for the DJ’s concert has been announced yet but let’s hope that no more concerts or festivals will be cancelled this year. For further assistance regarding refunds, you may contact the organiser at info@futuresoundasia.com.
