Brunei-born actor and singer Wu Chun (吴尊) has always been a favourite of many. As it turns out, that includes Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam, former royalty of Brunei. Just recently, Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam reportedly visited the singer and his family during Chinese New Year.
It’s been long rumoured that Wu Chun, during the early days of his debut, had found favour with the royal family of Brunei, even earning him the nickname “Prince of Brunei” for a time. Well, it certainly seems there may be some weight to said hearsay!

The singer shared news of Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam’s visit on 24th February via his socials. “From Melbourne to Brunei to Shanghai, it’s always a ‘Home Sweet Home’ feeling to celebrate CNY with our loved ones… And it’s a huge honor to have our kind and lovely Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam visit our house during the festive season,” Wu Chun captioned in his post.
Photos showed the former wife of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah visiting Wu Chun and family in person for Chap Goh Mei, the 15th and final day of the new year. Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam looked delighted to be there, even taking photos with Wu Chun and his extended family.
Netizens were surprised to see the former royalty of Brunei with Wu Chun and his family, with several exclaiming they too wished to visit. A few wondered about the singer’s relationship with Brunei royals, but others were simply happy to see he was close with them still. Unfortunately, her newlywedded son Prince Mateen and wife Anisha Rosnah did not join in on this celebration.

Well, it certainly looks as though Wu Chun and family had quite the celebration with Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam this new year! We sincerely with them well and hope they will spend their year happy and healthy.
