About a year ago, in 2023, former national shuttler Goh Liu Ying (吴柳莹) announced her marriage and subsequent pregnancy. Prior to meeting her husband, she once shared that she’d been longing to find the right person at the right time, and it seemed that the athlete had found the perfect partner.
Even though it has been over a year since the couple tied the knot, Liu Ying has kept information about her husband under wraps, making it a very private relationship. The only thing we know about her husband is that he’s a businessman and that they began dating before Liu Ying retired from badminton.
However, yesterday (26th December), we were given a closer look at Liu Ying’s elusive husband in a recent Instagram post. The caption on the photos was simple, echoing her old sentiment of finding the right person. She ended the post with a simple line, “We found love 💙”.
Even in this post, her husband’s face was cleverly obstructed. At this point, it’s pretty clear that the former shuttler is content to keep her husband to herself! Some fans, though, aren’t as content with Liu Ying’s husband remaining unknown. There were comments wondering why she refused to show her husband’s face, questioning why she would do that.
Others took it more lightly, making jokes about him being faceless online. There were many supportive fans too, focusing on what she had posted. They complimented Liu Ying and her husband, one commenter even calling him an “anugerah”.
One person Liu Ying hasn’t kept a secret, however, is her child. Born in 2023 on the same date as Merdeka Day and affectionately called Kai Kai (凯凯), she has even created an Instagram account just for her son and occasionally posts updates on his growth.
We wish the best for Liu Ying, her husband and Kai Kai in the future, even if she and her husband choose to keep his presence mysterious. At least we can watch Kai Kai’s cute shenanigans online.
