Following his alleged marriage to Russian beauty queen Oksana Voevodina, Sultan Muhammad V has abdicated the throne earlier this month, and now he is reportedly set for a divorce.
The 49-year-old king married the 25-year-old Miss Moscow in November and recent reports even said that the couple are expecting their first child.
Now, a new report from The Mirror is saying that the newlyweds’ marriage is currently on the rocks and they are on the brink of filing for divorce.
“The fairytale about the Russian Cinderella who married a king is likely to be over… preparing the necessary documents is already underway. The marriage lasted just a couple of months,” The Mirror cites Russian news outlet Tolko Nikomu.
A few other Russian outlets also made similar claims but Voevodina’s father, orthopedic surgeon Andrey Gorbatenko, has dismissed the reports and said: “It’s nonsense. I do not read the internet but I would have been the first to know.”
News of the divorce come right after Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was named as the new king of Malaysia, replacing Sultan Muhammad V who abdicated the throne just 2 years after being crowned.
