While some stars are getting married, others are unfortunately looking to end theirs. Recently, it was reported that the wife of national football player Faisal Halim is filing for divorce from the athlete after six years of marriage.
On 2nd September 2025 (Tuesday), news outlets reported that Nur Syazwani Mizuana Shahril had filed for divorce from the football star at the Klang Syariah lower court. Faisal’s lawyers, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader and Puteri Ummi Kartini Abd Latiff, confirmed the filing during the mention proceedings that same day. The divorce was filed under Section 47 of the Islamic Family Law Enactment (Selangor), which covers mutually agreed divorces.

However, the lawyers revealed that the pair had previously made a divorce declaration out of court, so Faisal and Nur Syazwani must first resolve the issue under Section 57 of the same enactment. Syarie judge Mohd Hairuddin Ab Rahim has set 16th October 2025 for mention. Nur Syazwani’s lawyer, Roshdan Sujak Rafie, said his client had filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences.
Faisal and Nur Syazwani tied the knot on 9th March 2019, and had one son together. In an interview with a local news outlet, Roshdan revealed that the couple had separated for over a month. Faisal and Nur Syazwani have allegedly been facing marital problems for some time and have tried to work out their differences, but to no avail. There are also claims that the couple had sought divorce previously but never went through with the separation.

Meanwhile, fans of the football player have flooded his social media with words of support and encouragement. The divorce came a little over a year after Faisal suffered an acid attack. On 5th May 2024, the athlete was splashed with acid by an unknown man in front of a shopping mall. Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns and had to undergo multiple surgeries. A year later, there is still noticeable scarring on the football star’s face.
Faisal has yet to address the divorce news. However, Nur Syazwani eluded via social media that the couple have no chance of reconciliation. Whatever happens, we wish both the best and hope they find the best solution to raise their son.
