Fine Dining At Miraku

If you’re looking for a great place to savour some “out of the world” authentic Japanese food, then we know of a place tucked away in the corner of Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya.

“Miraku” simple means a great place for customers to enjoy great food. The fine dining restaurant opened in July and it’s designed to provide the art of Japanese dining to those who desire to experience gourmet food.

Its first outlet is situated in G Hotel, Gurney Penang. Hence, the restaurant is not a newbie to the F&B industry. Miraku at Paradigm Mall is extremely spacious and airy, with enough space to seat approximately 130 customers inside and 28 customers outside at one time.

Established under the Texchem Group of Companies, Miraku aims to bring the best of Japanese culinary to Malaysia, with aspirations to deliver the essence of Japanese cooking which places top priority in the selection of quality and fresh produce.

Armed with the best and experienced chefs directly brought in from Japan, Miraku is marked to satisfy any food connoisseur’s taste buds. On top of it, their exceptionally professional and personalized service will make a true Miraku dining experience an unforgettable one!

During our first visit to Miraku, we were first treated to a Cold Chicken & Lotus Root appetizer while we chatted over servings of hot Japanese green tea. It was then that we learnt that the appetizer changes on a daily basis. Keeping dining at Miraku interesting.

Then, we were formally “introduced” to the house specialty, the Miraku Salad (RM18 for a small serving, RM23 for a medium serving, RM28 for a large serving).

The salad came heaping with delicious crunchy greens, crab meat, sliced octopus meat, scallops, topped off with a heap of raw salmon. We liked how the salmon was shaped into a rose. Cute!

Diners can also opt to order other available dressings (aside from the prefixed one) such as Tomato, Wafu, Sesame, and Mayonnaise at only RM3 per portion.

Next, the good people of Miraku served up a plate of their popular Dragon Roll (RM33), which is a cut up roll of deep-fried prawn roll with rice wrapped with seaweed and avocado.

What came after was what tipped us off the “well fed and happily full” scale – the generous serving of air flown assorted sashimi, Sashimi Moriawase. The “Take” (serves 3 to 4) is priced at RM140 whereas the “Matsu” (serves 4 to 8 pax) is priced at RM180.

Because Miraku believes in quality produce, many of the sashimi items change frequently, subject to availability. As a matter of fact, the air flown sashimi is flown in every Tuesday and Friday weekly.

We were also told that their Sashimi Moriawase is best eaten with their in-house, “Nama-wasabi”. Which we loved! It was spicier than the usual powder-based wasabi.

Alternatively, if you find both the Take and Matsu servings too expensive, all you gotta do is speak to any of the Miraku employees or the chefs about your budget, and they will willingly customize a Sashimi Moriawase that is especially catered to you.

And if that wasn’t enough, we also tried the Sushi Moriawase – a large serving of assorted sushi. 20 pieces of yummy sushi goes for only RM86 and from the looks of it, it’s definitely made to share.

It was filling but too good to waste! We stuffed ourselves with as many pieces as we could.

Last but not least, we ended our excellent Miraku dining experience with three scoops of their best desserts – Kurogoma (black sesame), Matcha (green tea), and believe it or not, Wasabi.

The fact that these ice cream flavours (RM10 per scoop/serving) cannot be store bought receives high praises from us. Because they’re made in the very same restaurant, with love. What more when they taste so exceptionally good after a heavy Japanese meal!

We couldn’t get enough of the sesame-flavoured one. Although we highly recommend Japanese food enthusiasts to try the wasabi-flavoured one. You might like it!

There are some menus that we didn’t get to try though – the lunch set menu (available at 11:30am to 2pm from Mondays to Thursdays, 11:30am to 3pm from Fridays to Sundays) and their specialty menu (available at lunch and dinner daily). Their delight menu (available at 3pm to 6pm from Fridays to Sundays).

But it just gives us more reasons to go back soon!
