Concerts or even fan events can be a gruelling process. Acquiring tickets to see their favourite group or idol is one thing, where fans have to battle among themselves and the rising issue of scalpers, and then there’s the policies of keeping fair play among fans for the purchase of tickets.
Over the weekend, fans of Day6 (데이식스) have come out on social media to speak up about the overly strict policies of the band’s recent fan concert at Jamsil Indoor Stadium, Seoul. Some fans who had valid tickets were denied entry due to overly strict ID requirements, especially for those who were underage and without their physical national ID.

A fan posting on Twitter explained how they had arrived at the venue and displayed their student ID for verification. Staff attending to them had denied their entry as student IDs were not permissible. Despite the effort of acquiring a picture of her passport from their dad, and having an actual police officer to identify their identity on the spot, the fan was still not able to enter the venue.
Their post continued retelling other incidents throughout the fan concert, with one reading, “There were a few people like me too, and they were all students. Their parents came along and pleaded with the organisers for hours. Some of them said they flew in. I know that there are rules, but can’t they be a bit more flexible?”.

The poster also recounted a fan who bought their ticket with their mother’s account but was denied entry due to not having a youth ID or passport, despite having their mother and her ID there with them. She was also reported to have brought her family’s register to prove their relationship.
With the rise of scalping problems, balancing the issue of fair play among fans becomes more difficult with newly formed policies. Could have Day6 found a better middle ground or will more fans be affected?
