In case you haven’t heard, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) is extending her tenure as Tourism Ambassador for Melaka for the coming year. As such, the star has many plans to fulfil her role, including learning to sing in Malay from our very own Biduanita Negara, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza.
Over the weekend, Fan Bingbing attended the official launch ceremony for Visit Malaysia Year (TMM) 2026 at the Encore Melaka Theatre as part of her duties as Melaka’s Tourism Ambassador. Also at the event was Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, who performed at the ceremony alongside Misha Omar and Haziq Rosebi. After witnessing the songstress’s performance, Fan Bingbing had nothing but praise for the star.

In an interview with local news outlets, the actress said the performance during the event was inspiring. She said, “Her stage presence is incredibly powerful. I was captivated by how Siti Nurhaliza delivered a closing performance with such brilliance, and I certainly look forward to her future shows.” Additionally, Fan Bingbing said she hopes to one day team up with Siti Nurhaliza to learn how to sing in Malay.
The 44-year-old said, “If the opportunity arises, I would love to learn Malay songs from her, which could also serve as a form of cultural collaboration.” Fan Bingbing explained that she wants to expand artistic collaborations with international and local artists to promote Melaka on the global stage. She added that the success of the 2025 campaign motivated her to continue introducing the historic state to international tourists.

While it’s unclear whether Fan Bingbing will indeed collaborate with Siti Nurhaliza for a song, the two stars did have the opportunity to meet during their time in Melaka. The actress added that she was especially delighted to have presented the singer with some products from her beauty brand, Fan Beauty Diary. Netizens have since reacted to their meeting, praising the two stars for their beauty.
On a related note, Fan Bingbing revealed that she’ll return to Malaysia and Melaka later this year to film some promotional videos for TMM 2026. Perhaps then we’ll get to hear more of the star speaking and singing in Malay.
