When we’re young, we always dream of perfect love stories. Finding the right person, enjoying a wonderful life with them and walking off into the setting sun, still deeply in love. However, not all love stories have a sweet ending. In fact, many actually end in heartbreak.
Malaysian influencer Natalie Chai recently got curious about her followers and asked them to share their “sad love stories”. Needless to say, they delivered. Some really tugged on our heartstrings while others left us shaking our heads. Well, to feed your melancholic, bittersweet mood, here are a few love stories to mull over.
Missed opportunities
Sometimes love comes knocking but we end up turning it down for various reasons. Perhaps it isn’t the “right time” for us, perhaps we aren’t ready. Regardless, we have to live with what we’ve chosen. While most of us think we have made the right choice, sometimes, we can’t help but wonder what would have happened if we had simply went for it. These people have.
The Toll Of Time
Time and tide wait for no man. And while most relationships tend to sweeten over time (with effort from both parties), some end on a bitter note. For these two people, time took their love away, in one case, permanently.
Wasn’t Meant To Be
Circumstances can, regretfully, force our hands into making choices that aren’t pleasant for either party. While the end of some relationships are for the best, others tend to affect people outside of the former partnership. But, one way or another, these relationships didn’t work out and it understandably, still hurts.

Sometimes we wait so long for “the one” that when we do find someone who fits the bill, we’re ecstatic. But, as we all know, it takes two to tango and a one-sided love is never enough. Relationships can be tricky things, and despite all the love gurus in the world, there is no guide to having the “perfect” love story. However, one thing we do know is that love is a commitment. While these people may have experienced bittersweet relationship or heartbreaks, we hope they are doing better now and are living out their best lives!
