Ella Chen (陳嘉樺) is officially a mum!
The 35-year-old S.H.E singer gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 12th April). Her label HIM Entertainment released a statement, saying, “Thank you for your concern. Ella has given birth; mother and son are in good health and Ella is currently resting.”
In her own Facebook post, Ella shared that she originally intended for a water birth. However due to complications, the singer had to resort to a natural birth while lying on a bed. Although the process was agonising, the Taiwanese star told herself that she had to be strong for child.
Thankfully, Ella was surrounded by her S.H.E. bandmates of 16 years – Selina Jen (任家萱) and Hebe Tien (田馥甄), along with her husband, Malaysian businessman Alvin Lai, 40. Although she didn’t reveal her newborn’s name, she did share that her 3.088kg son is doing just fine.
Last Friday (7th March), the heavily pregnant singer even uploaded a video on Facebook of herself proudly showing off her belly while performing an energetic dance to her own song. She captioned the clip with the hashtags #StrongestPregnantWomanOnEarth and #ThisIsTheResultOfRegularExercise.
“(Your) mother, who is full of strength from her head to her toes, has finished all her preparations! Strong baby, come quickly, Im so ready!” said Ella. Alvin shared her post, adding, “The world’s strongest! (As the) dad, I need to train more to strengthen this middle-aged uncle’s body, seeing as both (mother and son) are full of strength!”
