The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is reminding all Malaysia Driving Licence (MDL) holders to renew their expired driving licence by 30th June. This includes Probationary Driving Licence (PDL), Competent Driving Licence (CDL) and Vocational Driving Licence such as public service vehicle (PSV) and goods driving licence (GDL).

Additionally, licence holders can avoid summons and resitting for the driver’s licence exam – including the theory computer and practical tests – if they renew their expired licence before the deadline. Drivers who are caught driving with an expired licence after the end of the month will be fined.

The original deadline for the moratorium on renewing driving licences and paying road tax was on the 30th of September last year. The Malaysian Ministry of Transport then extended the deadline until the 31st of December 2021.

It enabled motorists with expired driving licence to drive even after the Movement Control Order due to the difficulties of JPJ to operate at total capacity last year. However, hundreds of thousands of MDL holders still have yet to renew their drivers licence.

Malaysians who wish to renew their licence can do so directly through JPJ, MyEG, or the post office. They are now fully operative, and the online appointment system has now ceased.
