A few months ago, South Korean DJ, DJ SODA (황소희) went on a trip to Thailand to celebrate one of the most highly-anticipated festivals, the Songkran Festival. In a video she posted, many critcised a certain individual for allegedly groping the artist during the festival.
While the accusations turned out to be false, this incident in Japan was as clear as day. The Korean celeb shared the traumatising moment when she was groped by fans during her performance at a music festival.
Yesterday (Sunday, 13th August), DJ SODA posted on her social media to share with her followers a very unfortunate experience that happened when she was performing at the Osaka Music Circus Festival in Japan. At one point during her set, the DJ went closer to the audience to interact with fans. However, the decision ended with several of the audience members taking advantage of the situation to touch her chest.
“At that moment, not only one but several people suddenly touched my chest and I was helplessly sexually harassed by them,” she wrote. Shocked but not wanting to disappoint her other fans, the performer tried her best to keep calm and finish her set despite feeling scared. The 35-year-old revealed that she was still shaken from the incident after she returned to her hotel room.
The experience left her feeling humiliated and traumatised saying, “I’ve never ever experienced anything like this in my 10 years as a DJ. I think it’s going to be hard to get closer to the fans from the stage (in the future).” After sharing her story, many of her fans as well as celebrity friends showed their support by condemning the people in the audience who touched her inappropriately.
At the time of writing, the festival’s organiser has yet to release a statement regarding the incident. It is also unknown if DJ SODA will file a report against the offenders who sexually harassed her.
