Calling for all aspiring musical actresses in Malaysia! Legendary singer Dato’ M. Nasir is launching a new musical theatre later this year, and he’s looking for the right person to be the star of the production!
According to reports, Dato’ M. Nasir will premiere a new musical theatre later this year titled “Mansur & Liu”. The production is the singer’s first collaboration with his wife, actress and writer Datin Marlia Musa. The musical reportedly follows the story of the Malaccan Sultan Mansur Shah and the Chinese princess Hang Liu (Hang Li Po).
Most excitingly, Dato’ M. Nasir and Datin Marlia Musa have announced open auditions for the musical’s lead, Liu. The pair are looking for a performer with grace, wisdom and a soft, melodic voice to bring Liu’s character to life. The audition will take place on 15th May 2026 (Friday) at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, with callback auditions the following day.
Datin Marlia Musa commented on the auditions, saying, “This is our first musical theatre. We’ve heard the voices, seen the acting and the dance moves. Now, we want to see all of it come true in this musical with new talents.” Here are the details of the open audition:
