Online reviews have helped us decide whether or not a certain place is worth checking out. Even without the reviews, we’d also consider visiting them at least once after being recommended by a friend or a family member as we trust their judgment.

However, it’s also best to remind ourselves that everyone has their own preferences that may differ from ours. This woman didn’t quite know how to react when she received her order at a hotpot restaurant.

Earlier this week, a netizen who goes by Syl posted a series of photos on her Xiaohongshu account along with a caption that details her experience at a Starry Sky Marina Hotpot restaurant in Puchong. According to the post, the customer decided to try the place after her cousin recommended it to her.

The netizen also looked the restaurant up online and read the reviews left by customers. Most of them commented that the environment, service, and food were satisfactory. However, what the young woman did not expect was the portion of the food. She was perplexed and left speechless when the staff served her the mushrooms she had ordered which turned out to be just 5 mushrooms cut in halves.

“They actually sell these Button Mushrooms for RM8.50 and this was the portion? It was literally 5 mushrooms cut unevenly in halves to 10 pieces. It just makes me laugh every time I look at the photo,” she wrote. The customer also posted her review of the restaurant saying that while the environment and service were good, the prices were too expensive for the portion and the RM28 beef slices and RM8.50 Button Mushrooms were not satisfactory.

After posting the photos, netizens were obviously just as shocked as Syl was. Some advised that she should file a complaint and ask for an explanation from the restaurant while others were actually not that surprised as they’ve had a similar experience at another branch of the same restaurant.

At the time of writing, Starry Sky Marina Hotpot has yet to respond to the viral post. Will you be dining in after seeing what happened to this customer?
