There’s no denying that some internet celebrities tend to chase clout by making up outrageous claims. But it seems Hong Kong YouTuber Carriage Lau (刘骏轩, 刘马车) has chosen the wrong Hong Kong celeb to tangle with.
Hong Kong actress Coffee Lam (Valerie Lam, 林芊妤) is not one to sit back while letting others insult her, as seen by her response when netizens alleged she had photoshopped her bikini photo. Well, it’s no surprise she had something to say after Carriage Lau boldly claimed they were sex partners!
On 1st September, Carriage Lau dropped the post which would quickly blow up. He uploaded a photo of himself next to a cardboard cut-out of Coffee Lam, claiming he was working on a joint project with her.
Carriage then wrote in his caption: “Actually, Carriage has always had an affair with Coffee, and (we) are long-term friends (with benefits). Please don’t tell Coffee’s husband.” It didn’t take long for news to get back to Coffee herself, and she was quick to issue a response to the whole matter.
“Is it true that someone will believe this?” she asked in the comments section, noting that the post had sowed chaos and many had left their comments. “Everyone is so bored. But after reading everyone’s comments, I feel relieved, it proves that everyone is rational,” she added.
Coffee later shared via her IG Story that Carriage had indeed contacted her privately to request they work together but she did not respond. She added that she suspected he was acting out to get her attention. “The whole thing is unbelievable,” she complained. “I’m really not interested in (working with you), and I’ve just returned from vacation (so) I’m very busy.”
Another netizen apparently reached out to her, claiming they too had been harassed by Carriage and was frightened. However, Carriage encouraged them to stand up for themselves. The actress then shared her reasons for not allowing Carriage to walk over her.
“Everyone must (be able) to protect themselves. If you (remain frightened), you will only (give) the other party success and joy and (they) will use more extreme methods to deal with you. If you don’t even have the guts to protect and defend yourself, how can you protect those around you?” she asked.
Despite her response, Carriage allegedly has not given up. His latest post claimed his “long-time (sex partner) Coffee” had deeply hurt him, but claimed it was alright as long as she was happy. He later added he would be taking a break from IG and YouTube after being “bullied” over the issue.
On our end, we sincerely hope Coffee Lam will be able to live her life peacefully after this has all blown over. We also wish her husband Chak Chee Weng (翟志榮) and children well, and hope to see her visit Malaysia again soon!
