Malaysian internet celebs Chang Yong (蔡常勇) and Wen Shu Sen (溫舒森) are favoured local sweethearts, especially after being together for over nine years. But, while no one doubts the affection they have for each other, their relationship allegedly isn’t the most conventional either!
Long time fans of Chang Yong and Shu Sen will know that their love life hasn’t been the easiest. As such, MyFM host Chan Hong Zhee aka 大头Aki recently spoke to the couple about their 9-year relationship, from its ups and downs to why they have yet to get married!
Just last September, Chang Yong and Shu Sen announced their official engagement, much to the delight of their friends and fans. Yet, there has been no news of a wedding. Shu Sen shared they were still thinking about it. “Because we don’t like to be too traditional, we’re thinking about having a more fun and relaxed one, maybe something like having a party with everyone,” she said.
Chang Yong added they had forgone the traditional rings to boot, showing off the ring tattoos they’d both gotten earlier in February. “It was Shu Sen’s idea from long ago,” he stated. Shu Sen explained that they both agreed to get ring tattoos as getting proper rings were “troublesome and uncomfortable“.
Notable enough, Chang Yong too had proposed to Shu Sen in September 2023 with a fancy looking watch, definitely straying away from the tradition of proposing with a ring. However, Shu Sen did mention that they likely would not hold the wedding this year as she felt they would be too busy.
Wedding aside, Hong Zhee brought up another burning question about their relationship. “Have either of you, at any point in your relationship, thought “they aren’t the one”?” she asked. Chang Yong was quick to say no, but Shu Sen admitted with a bashful smile that she did have doubts initially.
“Before, he was a very self-centered person. If I was sitting next to him, he wouldn’t notice my emotions. Even if I was crying beside him, he can ignore me,” she said. Shu Sen added empathy didn’t come easy to Chang Yong, but after communicating her expectations, he improved a lot. As for being affectionate, Shu Sen shared they had their moments, but Chang Yong claimed the opposite.
“I’ll tell her “I love you” at night,” he shared. “If she doesn’t want to (say it back), she’ll (pretend) to sleep and ignore me.” Still, that allegedly hasn’t affected their physical affection towards each other, despite Shu Sen acting shy when Chang Yong confirmed “We’re still physically in love.”
It’s certainly been quite the ride for the duo, especially since they once broke up in 2021 before getting back together nine months later after rekindling their romance. We wish them health and happiness and hope their love will continue to withstand the test of time in the years to come!
