Nothing’s worse than attending a concert and realising your bias won’t be there. For Malaysian ONCEs, that’s exactly the heartbreak they’re facing this weekend. South Korean girl group TWICE (트와이스) has confirmed that member Chaeyoung (채영) will not be participating in their upcoming “This Is For” World Tour stop in Kuala Lumpur due to health-related reasons.
The concert, which will be held at the National Hockey Stadium, has already attracted mixed reactions from fans. Many expressed disappointment over the choice of venue, criticising its relatively small capacity and calling it unsuitable for a group of TWICE’s global stature. Despite the concerns, anticipation for the show remains high, with tickets selling out rapidly upon release.

In an official statement, JYP Entertainment expressed deep regret over the sudden announcement, saying, “We sincerely apologise to all fans who have been looking forward to seeing her on stage, and we are truly sorry to deliver such sudden news. This decision was inevitable after careful consideration, with the artist’s well-being and sufficient recovery placed as our top priority.” The agency further asked for fans’ understanding and reiterated their appreciation for the continued love and support given to TWICE.
The news of Chaeyoung’s absence is a disappointment for ONCEs who were looking forward to seeing the full group perform live. Having recently made her solo debut with “Lil Fantasy” and opening up about almost quitting during the group’s peak, she shared that the fatigue eventually took a toll on her. Her honesty resonated deeply with fans, and her absence has since led to an outpouring of concern and support across social media.

Fans have since taken to social media to express their concerns, urging JYP Entertainment to give the members more time to rest. With several members, including Tzuyu, who previously faced health issues during their Victoria’s Secret stage, many are once again questioning the group’s demanding workload and the pressure placed on the idols to constantly perform.
Despite the disappointment, ONCEs have rallied together to send messages of support to Chaeyoung, wishing her a swift recovery. The Kuala Lumpur concert is still expected to draw massive crowds as TWICE continues their world tour, promising an unforgettable show even as fans eagerly await the idol’s return to the stage.
