It’s official: All hope is lost, sort of.
Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, one of the most adorable Hollywood couples, are reportedly taking a break from their 3-year relationship. It seems like the physical distance is getting in the way because a source told E! News that they have drifted apart due to their busy schedules.
Stone and Garfield met on the set of “The Amazing Spider-Man” and began dating in the fall of 2011. The couple attended many award shows together, but they were last spotted together in early January at the Fox Searchlight dinner for “Birdman” in New York City. Garfield was also noticeably absent from Stone’s side during the awards season earlier this year.
But here’s a piece of good news.
E! News was told that they have not officially broken up yet because they remain very friendly and are on good terms. They aren’t calling it a “break” either, it’s just that they haven’t able to spend much time together.
Another source also told People Magazine that “it’s too early to say the relationship is over” because Garfield has “thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else”.
The source explained:
Emma understands his work anxieties – it’s why she originally pulled out of Cabaret last year and only did it this year – but they’re taking a break from seeing each other.
They’re both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage.
Garfield is currently in Taiwan filming for Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie, “Silence”. He is expected to reconcile with Stone when the production wraps in May. As for Stone, she is gearing up for the promotion for Cameron Crowe’s “Aloha” with Bradley Cooper.
