What is the first thing that comes to mind when you see someone famous? You’d obviously want to take a selfie with them, right? Document of proof that you’ve met a certain person that also serves as memorabilia. Believe it or not, even celebrities want to take a photo with each other too. Just because they’re famous, doesn’t mean they won’t get star-struck.
Earlier this year, we had Malaysian singer Geraldine Gan take a photo with football legend David Beckham when the two attended the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. We also have another Malaysian celeb that took a photo opportunity with Salt Bae after dining at his restaurant. Now it’s the chef’s turn to get excited as he met an important figure from Malaysia.
Celebrity chef Nusret Gökçe, famously known as Salt Bae posted some very exciting selfies on his Instagram a couple of days ago. The 39-year-old was one of the many famous faces that attended the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Apart from the football game, the restaurant owner met many political leaders around the world including our very own Agong.
The food entrepreneur posted a series of photos showing him posing together with FIFA president Gianni Infantino, His Excellency Sheikh Joaan, and Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah with a caption that reads, “I love you all more than football ♥️”. In case you didn’t know, our King is currently in Qatar for a respectful visit and a meeting with His Royal Highness Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim in Doha, Qatar where he also congratulated the Qatar government for successfully organizing and conducting.
After Salt Bae posted the photo with His Majesty, many netizens, especially Malaysians, flooded the comment section. Some were excited that the two public figures met while others criticised the celebrity chef for his impropriety in how he addressed the Agong in the caption as well as casually placing his arm around the Malaysian Royal.
For your information, His Majesty was actually a member of the FIFA Executive Committee from 2015 to 2019. According to an Instagram post from the official Istana Negara page, after the visit to Qatar, His Majesty is scheduled to arrive back in Malaysia next Monday (19th December).
