Carl’s Jr To Close 1 Utama Shopping Centre Branch After 17 Years

It looks like another beloved fast-food restaurant is closing its doors. Carl’s Jr Malaysia recently announced that it will close its restaurant at 1 Utama Shopping Centre after nearly two decades of operation.

Carl’s Jr Malaysia’s social media page recently shared in a post, “As we embark on new adventures, Carl’s Jr. 1 Utama will be closing its doors on August 4, 2024. We are incredibly grateful for your amazing support and the wonderful memories we’ve made together over the years. Thank you for being part of our journey!”. The fast food chain also urged customers to stay tuned to their social media pages for more updates and visit their other locations to get their Carls’ Jr fix.

Many Carl’s Jr fans voiced their sadness over the closure, thanking the branch for their 17 years of service. However, some netizens noted that the closure isn’t surprising because the store hasn’t had many customers lately. Others also compared the prices and portions of Carl’s Jr’s menu items with burgers from their competitors, adding that other brands offer better deals. Nevertheless, the closure saddens some fans who now have one less Carl’s Jr outlet they can visit in the Klang Valley.

The Carl’s Jr closure at 1 Utama Shopping Centre is just one of many store closures in the past month. Previously, the Malakat Mall in Cyberjaya announced that it would shut its doors after four years. The North Face brand also officially ceased operations of all their outlets in Malaysia earlier this month with a closing-down sale. However, it’s worth noting that only the Carl’s Jr branch in 1 Utama is closing its doors, and the other outlets will continue to operate as usual. The fast food chain also recently opened an outlet at AEON Mall Shah Alam in May of this year.

It’s always sad to see a popular store close its doors – but perhaps this will lead to more exciting openings in the future. If you’re a Carl’s Jr fan in the Bandar Utama area, you might want to head to the store before 4th August for one last meal.
