He popped the question, she said yes. Who are we referring to? It’s none other than Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden!
Though Diaz isn’t a fan of marriage, the “My Sister’s Keeper” star secretly tied the knot with her rocker boyfriend, Benjamin Levi Madden on Monday night at her Beverly Hills home. This came 3 weeks after US Weekly broke the news that the two were engaged.
The two have known each other for over a decade and they met through Diaz’s BFF, Nicole Richie, who is also the wife of Benji’s brother, Joel Madden. Sources told US Weekly that Nicole introduced her to Benji because she thought “they’d click”, which turns out to be true. The two dated for 7 months before Benji decided to marry Diaz.
According to E! News, the couple invited about 100 guests to witness their secret wedding ceremony inside Diaz’s house. The couple made sure the ceremony was a holy but intimate ceremony by setting up a massive marquee in Diaz’s mansion.
It was reported that Diaz chose Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, her sister Chimene, and assistant Jesse Lutz to be her bridesmaids while Nicole Richie’s son, Sparrow, served as the ring bearer. Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Samantha Ronson, and Robin Antin were among the celebrity guests invited to the wedding.
Cameron Diaz previously opened up about her own romantic history, stating that she is “glad to be growing more carefree as she gets older”:
A lot of people chase after it because they’ve been told, “This equals happiness.” They chase it, they get it and then they find out, “Why did I think this was going to make me happy? I’m miserable.”
I’m 41, I’ve been through everything, OK? I’m grateful for all of it – whether it was something quick and passing or something that lingered too long.
Thus, when it comes to marriage, she reminded E! News that she would never say never.
She hinted that she was ready to settle down with a man when she told E! News about her future plan.
She stated:
I stay right present, in the moment. I’m not the person, for whatever reason, I’m never projecting myself too far forward. I don’t live in the past. I try to stay really present, right in the moment where I’m at…And so, I’ve never said ‘never’ to anything. Believe me, I’ll try anything once or twice or maybe even three times.
Well, perhaps Diaz didn’t even need to try when she agreed to marry Benji! No wedding pictures have been posted up at the moment but congratulations to the newlyweds! 😀
