As Malaysians, we can never go astray from certain food, especially when it revolves around fried chicken. We all go wild for the particular dish, ranging from known outlets like KFC to roadside stalls. In conjunction with the fried chicken topic, there is exciting news for fast food lovers who have been waiting a long time for this outlet to open finally.

Sabah’s local halal fast food chain, Borenos Fried Chicken, is finally expanding its business to West Malaysia! The news, posted on Twitter by @/thelast_demigod, gaining over 147.3 thousand views (at the time of writing), claiming that the first location is set to be opened at IOI Boulevard in Bandar Puchong Jaya, Selangor.

For those who aren’t familiar with Borenos Fried Chicken, the fast food outlet first opened in 2015, co-founded by two Sabahan siblings, Kenji Yeo and Janice Yeo. The outlet even has a vision to create a brand that Sabahans and Malaysians can be proud of, with the potential to be able to spread the business internationally.

Borenos Fried Chicken doesn’t only focus on good quality food and services but also prioritises healthiness in their food and cleanliness in preparing it. The signature menu item at Borenos Fried Chicken is the Full Spring (whole) Chicken, a 2-piece chicken set meal that’s completed with their special Borenos gravy and mashed potato. Another best seller and crowd favourite is the Cheesy Chicken Rice and Potato Platter.

The comment section has been flooded with excited responses from numerous Malaysian netizens, where many commented on how they can’t wait to try out the dishes, as the outlet has received praise from Sabahans. Other users who had tried it before encouraged other netizens to try out the place as well and some stated that they would be proud to be able to try a local-branded fast food outlet

There were also numerous other dissatisfied comments by netizens regarding the outlet not expanding more in Sabah but spreading it in West Malaysia instead. There were also comments claiming that the people from Sabah aren’t great at cooking and that the food at Borenos Fried Chicken isn’t as good as it seems.

Borenos have yet to confirm the news, but they did previously tease new outlet openings, so perhaps this is one of the branches in their plans. What do you think? Are you excited about the new opening as well?
