Ever wanted to visit Japan? Then, we recommend visiting Osaka, Japan’s third-largest city, known as the nation’s “Kitchen of Japan”, where culinary adventures abound. Not only that, but it’s also home to Universal Studios Japan, one of Asia’s most popular theme parks. If this piqued your interest, then we have good news for you!
Batik Air recently announced the return of its highly anticipated direct service from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX), commencing on 15th December 2025. This exciting comeback marks the airline’s renewed commitment to Japan following the suspension of its previous Kuala Lumpur – Osaka connection via Taipei back in 2024, which was operated with the Boeing 737.

Now, with the deployment of the wide-body Airbus A330, travellers can enjoy a superior long-haul experience with 12 Business Class seats and 365 Economy Class seats, providing greater comfort, space, and connectivity. According to the Batik Air official website, the service will operate 3 times weekly, offering passengers a convenient and comfortable direct link to Japan’s cultural and culinary capital.
The return of the Kuala Lumpur – Osaka service reflects Batik Air’s strategic growth in North Asia, strengthening Malaysia’s aviation links and supporting two-way tourism. Japan remains one of the most sought-after destinations for Malaysian travellers, especially during the winter and cherry blossom seasons, while our country continues to welcome a growing number of Japanese visitors seeking its beaches, heritage cities, and diverse cultural experiences.

This renewed connection comes at a timely moment, as the nation gears up for Visit Malaysia 2026. It is expected to encourage more Japanese arrivals while further strengthening KLIA’s position as a key transit hub, offering seamless connections to Indonesia, across ASEAN, and beyond. Fares on the KL – Osaka route start from RM599 for Economy Class and RM3,599 for Business Class, one-way, all-in.
