It’s completely understandable when fans express disappointment in their favourite artist for falling short of expectations or failing to deliver something they had hoped for. However, sometimes these criticisms can go a little too far, to the point where people begin wishing harm on the celebrity. When that happens, can they really still be considered fans?
Superstar and Oscar nominee Ariana Grande is currently on a press tour, attending premiere events alongside her castmates for the upcoming film “Wicked: For Good”. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the premiere screening in Brazil due to flight issues. While she apologised for her absence, not everyone took the news well.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 4th November), Ariana Grande took to Instagram to explain why she was unable to attend the premiere screening. Her flight had unfortunately been delayed, and when she and her team tried to find alternatives, there were no other available flights that could get her to the event on time. As a result, she had no choice but to miss the screening.
She even prepared an apology video message that played before the film started. While many were understandably disappointed, others went as far as to accuse the singer of not caring about her Brazilian fans, with some even going so far as to wish that her next flight would crash. Some also refused to believe that there wasn’t a way for her to attend the event, seeing how influential she is.
Following the death threats, Ariana shared a follow-up (now-deleted) message, urging everyone not to wish harm upon her team. She further explained that the flight had been booked months in advance and elaborated on why alternative arrangements were not possible.

Both fans and netizens came to Ariana’s defence, pointing out that no artist should ever have to ask their supporters not to harm them. Many questioned how these so-called fans could doubt their idol’s words about the situation. Meanwhile, others, though they understood the frustration, commented that a flight issue certainly did not warrant threats against the singer. One man, who claimed to be a passenger on the same delayed flight as the singer, confirmed that there was a delay and that she wasn’t lying.
Some fans partially agreed that the threats were excessive, but believe that Ariana should replace her team, as they failed to provide a backup plan to ensure she attends the event. What are your thoughts on this matter? Was this really an unavoidable problem? And even so, did Ariana really deserve the death threats?
